It’s been a busy first quarter with Class Provincials in the WC and KZN and Interschools in all the regions keeping our sailors on their toes. For those of you who haven’t had time to read all the emails herewith some of the results:
WC Optimist Provincials:

The Optimist Selection event was run in conjunction with the KZN event. We had 14 sailors participate for the 10 spots that are available. 5 sailors will attend the World Championships and if possible 10 sailors including 3 girls will attend the African Championships. The conditions varied with something for everyone and the weekend ended with a blow for the heavier sailors.

2018 Selection Final Ranking
The Selection event and the Nationals each count for 50% of the ranking and the top sailors in the ranking are as follows: Matt Ashwell, Keagan Nel, Jude Stanley, Chiara Fruet, Karl Hofmyer, Ingrid Holm, Oscar Duys, Bryan Carstens, Rohan Chidley, Lena Holm. Congratulations to all of them for the continuous commitment to the process. With the team balanced to include sailors from both WC and NR, the team’s preparation can go full steam ahead. Details of the training will be published in each region.
Upcoming events to watch out for:
NR Optimist Provincials – 1st & 2nd September 2018
SAS Youth Nationals – NR – Stilbaai Yacht Club on the Vaal 15th -19th December 2018. Details of accommodation etc will be posted on the Youth Nationals website.
