Vascos MAC 12 Hour

This Saturday we had three Optimists competing in the Vascos Mac 12 Hour endurance sailing regatta with teams of three sailors in each team and sailing in a relay for 12 hours. The condition were very testing but no one gave up and all three teams finished. Well done to Jared, Chiara and Alex for being the 1st Optimist and taking 3rd place overall on handicap. Southern Charter Classic hosted by Zeekoevlei Yacht Club ... incorporating The Bart's Bash

The BART’S BASH race will take place on the Sunday morning of the Southern Charter Classic at Zeekeovlei Yacht Club. For those of you who don’t know about BART’S BASH it is a charity event, a weekend of sailing where as many clubs as possible from around the world unite over the same weekend to sail. It was started in memory of Andrew Simpson who was an America’s Cup professional sailor, a two time Olympic sailor and an incredible man. He was tragically killed in a training accident on San Francisco Bay in May 2013. The charity is all about growing the awareness of the sport of sailing around the world with a focus on the youth. This year they are focussing on raising funds and awareness for disabled sailing globally, allowing the Foundation to support disabled sailing programmes across the world.
