Our experiences here in Crotone so far.

Chiara’s journey to Italy started with a big surprise at the airport when she met Alex and realize he was coming to Crotone too, she was super happy not to be alone.

After a good flight to Rome we had a 7.5 hours bus ride to Crotone, where we arrived at 23.30. Alex spent the first night in Rome with his grandparents and arrived in Crotone only on Friday afternoon.

Friday afternoon Chiara had training together with the Crotone team coached by Alessio Frazzitta.

Saturday and Sunday Chiara and Alex participated in the Optisud regatta, with 131 boats in their category.

Saturday the wind was extremely light, less than 5 knots and both Chiara and Alex struggled to get off the line with some speed in all 3 races, compromising the final result for the day.

Sunday we had completely different conditions, wind over 15 knots a 20 degree shift to the left, current and 1.5 sometimes 2 meter waves. Alex had the perfect day making him climb up the results to 46. Chiara was a bit lazy not working the boat good enough with middle fleet result in all 3 races.

Monday and Tuesday both Chiara and Alex trained again with the Crotone team in the afternoon.

Wednesday there were no training scheduled so I borrowed a rib and took them out on the bay for some fun sailing.

Today the clinic with Maurizio Bencic coach of Malta team and Marcello Meringolo coach of the Italian team started.

The clinic is for 2 days and start 9 am and finish 5pm.

The next race, the Crotone Carnival Race will start on Saturday over 4 days and sees some big teams participating like Malta, Germany, Holland and many more.

Ciao
