Dear Optimist Parents and Sailors
The Optimist Class Exco have made an amendment to the current Selection policy to facilitate a selection process for the 2021 IODA events.
For the 2021 cycle the following will apply:
“Sailors who have participated in one provincial championship and the class national championship in the past 2 years will be eligible for selection”
“The team for the 2021 World championships will be selected from the current Selection Ranking Ladder as per the current selection document. The 2019 Class Nationals results will build the Selection Ranking ladder.”
“The Team for the African Championships will be selected from the Ranking Ladder as per the policy. The 2019 Class Nationals results will build the Selection Ranking ladder.”
2021 Selection Regatta
The 2021 Optimist Selection regatta will be held in conjunction with the 2021 WC Optimist Class Championships. Venue and Date to be advised.
Expression of interest for selection.
Sailors eligible for selection will be asked to complete the expression of interest. There after they will be required to pay the full deposit for participation by the deadline. Should any of the eligible sailors decline the next sailor on the ladder will be offered the place.
Deadline for the reply will be the 1st of February and the deadline for the deposit will be the 10th of February 2021.
